How the Adoption Process Works

Below is a step-by-step guide of what our adoption process entails.

We’re so glad you’ve fallen in love with one of our New Beginnings animals! By signing the contract, you commit to providing for the animal’s needs and giving it a loving home, followed by paying an adoption fee—which is not a sale, but a contribution to help cover the costs we’ve incurred while caring for the animal at New Beginnings.

Step 1: Find your new Pet

Browse our Facebook page for available Cats and Dogs looking for loving homes.

Step 4: Home Check

We’ll arrange a home check to ensure:

Your yard is secure, other pets are well cared for, the home environment suits the specific dog or cat, and that the animal will receive the love and care it deserves.

Step 5: Adoption Contract

If your home check is approved:

You’ll sign our official adoption contract, which includes a commitment to care for the animal responsibly and with love!

Step 6: Adoption Fee

Finally, you’ll pay a once-off adoption fee to help cover the animal’s care costs while at New Beginnings.

💛 Please remember: We do not sell animals. Your adoption fee helps us continue our rescue work

Please don’t be offended if your application is not approved. For New Beginnings it is about the pet and there will always be a good reason if an application is not approved.

Adoption fee for Dogs: R1000 / Cats: R700

This fee includes: Sterilization; Vaccination (rabies & 5 in 1); De-worming;  Collar; ID Tag; and Tick and flea treatment. It also includes a FIV Test if you adopt a cat or kitten. (If all of this are done by your local vet, you would pay more or less R2500+ for it.)

By adopting from us, you have saved two lives – the one you adopted and the one who will take its place at the shelter.
